Iwi vs Peewee Treaty debate shows hope

The Working Group, a podcast hosted by Martyn ‘Bomber’ Bradbury and Damien Grant, mediated a debate between Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Toa Rangatira CEO Helmut Modlik and ACT Party leader David Seymour.
Mr. Te Pou says the debate highlighted the creative ways in which Māori have adapted to modern Aotearoa, despite historical grievances.
He says Seymour’s claims about division were exaggerated.
“The divide that exists in the country I don’t see it like that. And he tried to align it with the Springbok tour. I remember the Springbok tour. I’m old enough to remember it, Dale. There’s nothing like that out there. And I just think that the hype that he puts out around the division is not good for our country,” says Mr Te Pou.
