Bright ideas sought for mental health week
Barnardos is inviting tamariki and rangatahi to share their well-being tips for Mental Health Awareness Week.
Its general manager for child and family services, Jo Harrison, says there’s a $500 prize for the best contribution from a group or a class and two prizes of $250 for individuals with a smart idea to share with others.
Entries can be by mail, online or through the free 0800 What’s Up helpline.
“It gives options so other young people think ‘that might work for me. It might be about going to kapa haka. It might be about spending time with whānau. It might be about hanging out with friends at netball. It might be having a quiet time reading a book, or taking your dog for a walk, but we want to hear ideas from tamariki and rangatahi about what makes them feel better and brings them happiness and a sense of space and safety,” Ms Harrison says.
