Pūtea comes through for Parihaka refresh
Parihaka Papakainga Trust chair Emily Tuhi-Ao Bailey says new infrastructure will help more people return home to the kainga.

The trust has contributed $1.5 million and it is also developing protocols for the way whānau contribute to the hapori if they move home.
“Parihaka has a certain tikanga around non-violence and respectful behaviour. So those are the expectations and also participation. But you can’t just kind of come and live there and not support the community. You’ve got to, you know, come and help at the marae, at the tangi, and participate in hui. And those kind of things to help with cleaning up the pā with working bees those kind of things,” Ms Bailey says.
