Ngāpuhi Rūnanga on road to connection
Te Rūnanga Ā Iwi O Ngāpuhi and its health and social services subsidiaries are on the road again to hear what members of the country’s biggest iwi by population want from the organisation.
Its Āpiti Hono, Tātai Hono roadshow started in Ngāwha and Whangārei over the weekend and moves to Tāmaki Makaurau, Whanganui ā Tara, Ōtautahi and Kirikiriroa over the coming weeks,
Communications coordinator Hinerangi Himiona says they want input from Ngāpuhi wherever they live as a way to identify priorities.
She says there’s a hunger for connection, and that has benefits both ways as Ngāpuhi looks to address the needs of its people – including the more than 800 Ngāpuhi tamariki in state care.
“On the haerenga, along with some of the other services they will be promoting, there will be a lot of information info abt how whānau can, if they wish, become caregivers for these tamariki mokopuna and how Ngāpuhi Social Services can support them to become foster parents, mātua whāngai,” Ms Himiona says.
Roadshow event details can be found on the rūnanga Facebook page.
