Motu plans surprise for British bout
The trainer of Pukepoto boxer Mea Motu is confident ahead of his protege’s world title fight in Manchester next month.
Isaac Peach says the Te Rarawa wahine has determination, a hard-nosed attitude and sheer guts.
That has earned her a 19-and-0 fight record and made her the number one-ranked IBF super-bantam-weight contender – and now England’s Ellie Scotney is putting her IBF, IBO and Ring Magazine titles on the line.
“Mea’s working bloody hard. She’s working three trainings a day – she’s in the best shape of her life man, we’re gonna shock the world. No-one thinks this little Māori girl’s gonna do anything over there, they’ve never heard of – they wouldn’t even know what a Māori is. They will after the 26th of October,” says Peach.
Isaac Peach says before heading for the United Kingdom he’ll take Mea Motu to Australia for some tough sparring sessions.
