Atua Wāhine: the wisdom of Māori goddesses is in bookstores nationwide from next week, but the official launch is at the opening of the exhibition Kupu Māreikura, Heipūkarea at Te Whakaruruhau at Te Puia on September 20.
The Te Arawa broadcaster, blogger, and māmā of two toddlers says she wanted to make it part of Rotorua’s Aronui Indigenous Arts Festival.
“I reached out to some friends and to some other incredible artists, if they were keen to produce work dedicated to Atua Wāhine… and now we have about seventeen who are on board, and who will be creating new works that they’ll be showcasing,” Tapiata says.
