Construction of a pipeline being built near Lake Rotokākahi that commenced last week, has been met with backlash by iwi who rallied yesterday morning on Tarawera Road in the Tūhourangi and Ngāti Tumatawera rohe, saying it is the resting place of 120 people killed in the Mount Tarawera eruption of 1886.
