Happy marae vibe sought for Kaupapa Anthems video
Music collective Creative Nātives want whānau and tamariki to join in a music video they’re filming this weekend at Mangere’s Papatuānuku Kōkiri Marae for a song from the Kaupapa Anthems collection.
Member Precorqtion Wetere says Ahakoa is a waiata Māori version of Unity Pacific’s Thou We Are.
For Kaupapa Anthems 2, which was released on Waitangi Day earlier this year, the original performers are doing a duet with a young artist – and as the song is about aspirations for future generations, the video producers have chosen a marae as the place to shoot.
“So we wanted to have a place that’s safe, that gives a happy, warm vib and why not go back to the marae for that and we’re just planning to have the kids playing, happy, get some snippets of that,” Wetere says.
The shoot is on Sunday from 11am to 1 pm.
