Hobson’s Pledge spends up on beach lies
Former Māori development minister Willie Jackson says the latest Hobson’s Pledge campaign is based on lies.
The anti-Maori lobby group took out a front page ad in this morning’s New Zealand Herald supporting the Government’s intent to overturn a Court of Appeal judgment on the interpretation of the Marine and Coastal Areas Act.
It claims customary marine titles will allow iwi to block public access by declaring areas wahi tapu or imposing rahui.
Mr Jackson says Hobson’s Pledge is a well-funded opponent of Maori rights.
“And they love perpetrating lies and one of those lies is that we are going to block people from our beaches and we are going to take over the country. We are under attack constantly,” he says.
