Pasifika Greens fight on despite quitters
Senior Green MP Teanau Tuiono says he was caught by surprise by the resignation of several members of the party’s Pasifika caucus at the party’s annual meeting on the weekend.
The group, which included the wife of former MP Elizabeth Kerekere, said they were quitting because of the party’s treatyment of wahine Maori MPs and because they felt ignored and disrespected when the party was dealing with the shock death of MP Efeso Collins.
Mr Tuiono says their concerns have been acknowledged.
“I wish them well. I wish nothing but the best for them, hope they can move forward. Us Pasifika Greens who are still there are looking to grow and keep doing the work,” he says.
