Te Uri o Hau backs Dingle plan for rangatahi
Te Uri o Hau has teamed up with youth development charity the Graeme Dingle Foundation to deliver programmes for schools in the Kaipara.
With funding from the R&S Kayne Foundation, they will initially deliver the Kiwi Can and Career Navigator Ngā Ara Whetū programmes to tamariki at Otamatea High School and Maungatūroto and Kaiwaka primary schools.
Tania Moriarty, Te Uri o Hau’s head of tangata development, says the programmes support the development of core foundational skills in young people, helping them to forge positive pathways within the community, move into further education or work after school, and set goals for their future.
Young people of Kaipara are overrepresented in unemployment statistics and their confidence dropped significantly through Covid isolation.
