He says the 21-year-old halfback from Piopio will have his Chiefs and Māori All Blacks coach to thank.
“Clayton McMillan picking him as a kid with a lot of potential… let’s see what he can do. And now in my view he’s been the best number 9 half back in Super Rugby out of the New Zealand franchises by a long shot – and in my view he’s going to be poised to be included in that All Black group,” Laban says.
He expects a narrow win for the Blues in this weekend’s Super Rugby final against the Chiefs on the back of having the season’s best attacking record.
