Hundred day plan creates sense of urgency
A Waitangi claimant says she was always confident the Waitangi Tribunal would grant her request for an urgent hearing.
Lady Tureiti Moxon from Te Kohau Health in Kirikiriroa and Janice Kuka from Ngā Mataapuna Oranga PHO in Tauranga are challenging the Government’s plan to scrap of Te Aka Whai ora – the Māori Health Authority.
She says the Government created the urgency by including the move in its 100-day agenda.
“Because within 100 days, the coalition Government had promised their electors they would get rid of Te Aka Whai Ora of with that looming up in March the Waitangi Tribunal had given the Crown until January 31 to come up with what they’re going to put in its place,” Lady Moxon says.
The tribunal will set a date for the hearing after getting that response.
