The Spark Foundation has expanded its partnership with Pūhoro STEMM Academy, which aims to boost Māori involvement in the tech workforce from the current 5 percent.
It has worked with Pūhoro Hawke’s Bay programme since 2021, and is now taking the initiative nationwide, including creating new role of Kaiarataki Matahiko or digtial lead for Arahi Hippolite.
Mr Hippolite says many rangatahi Māori lack the confidence to engage with technology, and Pūhoro aims change that by removing access barriers and providing opportunities learn in a way that resonates.
