AUT tells tauira Māori to find their greatness

Auckland University Of Technology is keen to attract more Māori and Pasifika students.
Vice-Chancellor Damon Salesa says Māori and Pasifika already make up about 30 percent of its 28.000 students, and it has also proved successful at working with older students.
The Find Your Greatness campaign draws on the real world experience that is part of AUT’s approach.
“We see ourselves as a university for the real world. We’re kind of practice-based – it’s not just what you learn, but how. It’s not just learn the thing, it’s do the thing. So 90 percent of our students have a work experience in their programme and that leads to great outcomes for communities,” Professor Salesa says.
