Ngāti Manu takes Jason Wynyard for final journey

Woodchopping legend Jason Wynyard and his whānau are returning to Karetu Marae in the Bay of Islands
The 49-year-old axman died on Wednesday of a rare form of lymphatic cancer, which was diagnosed in May.
Māori Development Minister Willie Jackson says he brought pride to Ngāti Manu and the country.
“He made an incredible, indelible impression in terms of Māori sport, New Zealand sport. He’ll be up there in terms of the greatest Māori sportsman and indeed New Zealand sportsmen. It’s a tragic loss for the nation,” he says.
The nehu for Jason Wynyard will be on Sunday at 11am, and he will be buried alongside his father on the whānau whenua.
