Aotearoa hou bottom line for Te Pāti Māori
Te Pāti Māori co-leader Rawiri Waititi says the party won’t work with any future government which includes New Zealand First and its leader Winston Peters.
The Māori Party has already said it won’t work with ACT and National again – and the feeling is mutual.
He says it leaves his party like an abandoned child waiting for Oranga Tamariki to come and pick it up.
“We will only work with any party that is committed to creating a tiriti-centric Aotearoa hou. What does an Aotearoa hou look like? It looks like how we will treat you on a marae. We will welcome you, we will feed you, we will house you, we will care for you, we will love you, so if any party is not willing to work towards an Aotearoa hou we are not interested,” Mr Waititi says.
Labour leader Chris Hipkins has also ruled out Winston Peters and New Zealand First being part of a Labour-led Government.
