Breast screen bill challenge for Government

National Party health spokesperson Shane Reti believes his members bill to increase the maximum age for free breast cancer screening from 69 to 74 will put the Government in a tight spot.
Unless it’s delayed by urgency, the bill should come up today, which is the last members day before parliament is dissolved for the election.
“It’s such an awkward position for the government because they’ve said no, they won’t increase the breast cancer screening age. So I’ll be watching to see if they delay and try and push my bill over time so it doesn’t get debated. So let’s see what they do with that,” he says.
