Vaping threat to youth taken lightly

A regional stop-smoking service says Aotearoa’s “Smokefree by 2025” goal will not be worth much if the harm from smoking is simply replaced by vaping.
Takiri Mai te Ata Regional Stop Smoking Service has commended the Vape Free Kids NZ group’s 13,000-signature petition to parliament.
Spokesperson Catherine Manning agrees there should be tough new laws to prevent children from vaping.
“The lens is too narrow, in that they’re only looking at what’s best for adults. We know that if you apply any solution to the needs of a child it’s got to be good for all of us,” she says.
Ms Manning says the government needs to stop the spread of vape stores, and enforce penalties for outlets that deliberately target the youth market.
