Dental policy puts smile on health lobby

The Dental for All coalition hopes the Green Party’s call for universal free dental care will be the catalyst for a shift to more affordable healthcare.
Spokesperson Brooke Pao Stanley says the coalition includes anti poverty activists, unions, public health advocates, and health professionals.
Its polling had found widespread support among voters for the idea of dental treatment being part of a free healthcare system.
We have to start looking towards policies and solutions that are grounded in loving solutions for our people and families this election,. That is going to be really important and kind of move away from fear-based politics which I think so many other political parties push for,” she says.
Ms Stanley says having good teeth has become reflective of social status.
