3D guns bigger threat than license infringements

ACT MP Nicole McKee says the new firearms register will make little difference to gun crime as guns have already fallen into the wrong hands.
The spotlight has again gone on guns after a spate of shootings, including a fatality in Auckland last week.
Ms McKee says that’s the tip of the iceberg, with an average of 2.8 firearms offences day in the first six months of this year attributed to people on the Police National Gangs List
She says there are an estimated 180,000 to 200,00 illegal firearms in circulation, and the Government hasn’t given Customs the tools it needs like x-ray scanners to keen
“So we’re got a police administrative system which really wants to come down on the licensed firearm holders without having that much input or financial support into other areas or avenues such as the importation or even the 3D printing because that’s becoming pretty scary in itself,” Ms McKee says.
