Xtreme hip hop fitness plan gets Aotearoa flavour
A South Auckland fitness instructor is using hip hop music, Māori and Polynesian flavours to make cardio workouts fun.
Kahuoterangi Tuipe’a To’omata says he likes to incorporate his taha Māori and taha Hāmoa to add a twist to his Xtreme hip hop group fitness class.
The Xtreme Hip hop model was developed by American former bodybuilder Phil Weeden.
“I came across it and thought this would be really cool to bring to our community to get them moving because not everybody likes cardio,” To’omata says.
Xtreme Hip hop free beginner classes are held at the Māngere Ōtāhuhu Netball Centre every Wednesday from 6:30pm and paid classes are on Fridays at Kingdom Fit in Manukau.
