NZTE takes economic roadshow to Muriwhenua

A high-powered group of Māori business leaders and advisors is in the far north to identify opportunities and offer advice on how people can commercialise their resources or ideas.
Dale Stephens, the director of Māori partnerships at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, says the team includes investment analysts, advisors in specific areas such as the primary sector, horticulture, Digitech and tourism.
“We probably haven’t given enough attention to the far north as we would have liked because we have had pressures all around the country in terms of economic development, in terms of issues with exporting coming out of the pandemic, but now we are taking the opportunity to spend some time with our whanaunga up here and really look deeply at what we can do to help,” he says.
Mr Stephens, who’s from Te Rarawa, says it’s his last project before stepping aside to contest the Christchurch Central seat for National.
