Ngai Tahu offer carbon neutral offices
Ngāi Tahu Property’s Te Urutī building in central Christchurch has become the first building in Te Waipounamu to receive a 6-star NABERSNZ Energy Base Building rating.
The rating means it uses 76 percent less energy than comparable buildings.
Te Urutī is part of the Pita Te Hori Centre, which is leased to commercial and Government organisations.
Under the Government’s Carbon Neutral Programme, NABERSNZ ratings, an adaptation of the National Australian Built Environment Rating System, are required on buildings where over 2,000 square metres is leased by Government agencies.
Ngāi Tahu Property general manager Blair Forgie says the rating reflects the company’s commitment to climate change action, and from a business point of view, it means lower power bills for tenants.
