Tuivasa-Sheck back to prime position in Warriors
A rugby league commentator says Roger Tuivasa-Sheck’s return to the code is great news.
The Dally M Medal winner left the Warriors in the middle of 2021 to play for Auckland, but he’ll return to his old team on a three-year contract after completing this year’s season with the Blues.
Glen Lamar says the Warriors did well to get Tuivasa-Sheck back and to keep it a secret for so long.
He says like many league players who shift to the 15-man code, coaches seemed unsure where to play him.
“They come to rugby with the lure of wanting to represent the All Blacks which is really cool but they don’t really know where they fit in a rugby union team, what position is best for them. I think that applies to Roger as well – was second five actually going to be his best position. We’ll never know now I guess with him coming back to rugby league but maybe he should have gone on the wing or somewhere,” Lamar says.
