Alana Thomas moves from bar to bench in Māori Land Court

Alana Thomas of Ngāpuhi has been appointed a judge of the Māori Land Court.
Alana Thomas of Ngāpuhi has been appointed a judge of the Māori Land Court.
Māori Development Minister Willie Jackson said Ms Thomas is a champion for the benefits of a Māori perspective within the legal system.
Before practising as a lawyer she worked as a deputy register at the Whangārei Māori Land Court.
She has predominantly been involved in Māori legal issues representing clients in the Māori Land Court and Māori Appellate Court as well as representing a number of iwi, hapū, whānau claimants in Waitangi Tribunal historical, kaupapa and urgent inquiries.
