Bones of co-governance attack untrue

Crown Māori Relations Minister says the best way to counter an anti-co-governance roadshow is with the truth.
Street evangelist Julian Baxter is drawing protests with his public meetings where he lays out a case that three waters is part of a war by Maori against pakeha.
His tour seems to have been triggered by ongoing disputes with Maori over his Northland coastal property near Rawhiti.
Mr Davis says Mr Batchelor built a large development beside a well-established access way to a popular beach, which was also flanked by a wahi tapu and an urupa – and then he complains about Maori customary use.
“Patukeiha and Ngati Kuta have used that accessway forever, long before his whare was plonked there and long before he took it over and built whatever he’s got, a bed and breakfast or something. There is significant wahi tapu there. To say he was there first and his property is more important than the cultural significance just is absolutely wrong,” he says.
