Beyer impact on rainbow communities worldwide
Green MP Elizabeth Kerekere says former MP Georgina Beyer had a positive impact on thousands of lives around the world.
The world’s first transgender MP died yesterday aged 65.
Dr Kerekere says even though her friend and mentor hadn’t been well for a long time, she continued to speak up for diverse and rainbow communities.
“She would be available to speak at things and always represent our community, always willing to speak to the issues. The work she did around sex workers, for whakawahine, our trans whanau, we can’t measure it. No matter where I travelled around the world, our rainbiow communities would ask after Georgina. She has impacted on thousands of lives around the world,” Dr Kerekere says.
