Ikaroa Rawhiti MP Meka Whaitiri says 2,700 homes are still without power.
She has seen the damage from the air while helping deliver relief supplies or showing fellow ministers the affected areas, including the effect on horticulture.
“As a local MP on the ground, being here since 14 February, to get out to see all communities and particularly those which have been cut off and I will continue to do that. The main thing is to show up, to hear people’s stofries and let them know help is coming,” Ms Whaitirisays.
