M9, the Māori version of Ted Talks, returns to Auckland’s Civic Theatre tomorrow.
The nine speakers include musician Troy Kingi, choreographers Cilla Ruha and Kura Te Ua, and Maori Party co-leader … and kapa haka exponent Rawiri Waititi.
Organiser Ria Hall says mindful of the city’s focus on Te Matatini, the special edition mini-conference should answer any questions people have about haka.
“Taku iti, taku wehi, taku mana, a kapa haka performer’s perspective on how haka really changes lives, it changes the course and the discourse of people’s lives,” she says.
