Kapa haka pride and toil documented

A leading Māori photographer says he’s proud of the work he has been able to do recording kapa haka roopu preparing for Te Matatini.
Te Rawhitiroa Bosch was commissioned by hosts Ngāti Whātua Orakei to take a behind the scenes look at the festival, which will be held at Auckland’s Eden Park next week.
“All of those countless weekends that our whānau dedicate to kapahaka – and also what are all the other benefits, all the other hua that come out of being involved in kapahaka. You know that kotahitanga, that whanaungatanga, the learning of te reo, ngā tikanga. You know, all of that sort of stuff, so it’s been a really exciting project,” he says.
He’ll complete the project at the final pohiri practice this Sunday.
