Tararua added to national state of emergecy

Emergency Management Minister Kieran McAnulty this afternoon extended the State of National Emergency to include the Tararua District.
The initial declaration was signed this morning at 8.43am in response to hundreds of significant incidents overnight, including slips and floods which cut off towns and cities, falling trees bringing down power lines and storm surges in coastal areas.
It applied to civil defence and emergency management districts which had already declared states of emergency – Northland, Auckland, Tairāwhiti, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and Hawke’s Bay.
