Heed storm warning says Henare
Tāmaki Makaurau MP Peeni Henare says agencies around the city which have been cleaning up after the floods for the last two weeks are bracing for the next weather bomb.
He says with Auckland still in a state of emergency, there are clear messages for everybody if Cyclone Gabrielle lives up to expectations.
People need to heed the warnings and make sure their homes are ready for the deluge.
“It’s those kinds of warnings people in Tāmaki Makaurau probably don’t take as seriously as we should, but we learned a lot in the last heavy rainfall that hit – for example, if there’s a rain warning coming and it says stay home, please do,” Mr Henare says.
Both government and Auckland Council are now working closely on recovery and ongoing support for those affected by the floods.
