Chris Luxon defends little experiment

National Party leader Chris Luxon has defended his Waitangi speech calling the treaty a little experiment.
He’s come under fire for the speech, which seemed pitched at voters keen to see an end to treaty settlements – which he said would happen by 2030.
He believes it was an appropriate response to the occasion, despite organisers asking the politicans to dial back the electioneering.
“I’m just trying to paint a picture of something special happened here on the 6th of February 1840 and over that 183 years we have built a very, very special country and we will continue to go forwrd together and we should be very, very proud about what we’ve done because we’ve done a lot of good things, we’ve done a lot of things right,” Mr Luxon says.
