Help needed for hapu to share purakau

A rōpū working with the Ministry of Education to create 124 pūrākau for kura says the stories need to be told by Māori.
Te Arahou o Aotearoa – Māori Achievement Collaborative is working with 432 schools to source relevant local purakau.
Deputy national coordinator Damon RItai says there’s not tick box approach to developing relationships with local marae, iwi and hapū.
“What I’m describing to you is already happening with a lot of our whanau but it’s about building capacity among our whanau to be able to tell the story. I think the ministry needs to look at how we can enable our marae, our hapu and our iwi to be able to do that,” he says.
