Pasifika culture brings fun to flood hub

A pop-up Pacific response hub in south Auckland has been experiencing high demand for support from people affected by flooding.
Tāmaki Makaurau South Seas Healthcare Trust opened the hub in the Māngere town centre yesterday to offer whanau ora services, food parcels, education support, and haircuts.
Nurse Irata Passi says more than 50 families registered online even before they opened, and more have been coming in looking for culturally sensitive support.
“Having our Pacific people here, our own culture here, we know how to approach, we know how to connect to our community, giving that space to the families so they can share. We run a fun sort of environment,” she says.
While the hub is only scheduled to run until Saturday, it is giving the trust the chance to start creating long-term plans for displaced families
