Te Mātāwai seeks new outlets for reo lessons

Te Mātāwai is on a nationwide roadshow to encourage new roopu to take up the Māori language journey.
Co-chair Bernie O’Donnell says in the past the organisation, which was set up to promote and financially support te reo Māori uptake from the Maori side of the Crown-Maori partnership, has focused on focused on hapū and iwi-led groups .
It also has a responsibility to Māori communities that don’t fit into traditional categories.
“All those opportunities, and hāpori, give us an opportunity to engage with our stakeholders, under Te Reo Tukutuku, to encourage them to prepare themselves for funding – and that’s what we’re doing with our roadshow throughout the next two weeks,” Mr Bernie O’Donnell says
Te Reo Tukutuku roadshow kicked off at Hamilton’s Kirikiriroa Marae and Hoani Waititi Marae in West Auckland’s Hoani Waititi urban Marae, and it will be at Nga Hau E Wha Marae in Christchurch tomorrow and Pendennis in Wellington on Monday.
