Three waters bill Christmas treat

Local Government Minister Nanaia Mahuta says her Water Services Entities Bill is on track to being passed before Christmas.
Ms Mahuta introduced a supplementary order paper at the committee stage this week to replace the definition of Te Mana o te Wai to bring it ln line with the 2014 National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management.
It’s expected to pass in the last session of the year. Getting the bill passed this year could take some of the heat out of it as an election issue, as the focus moves to implementation.
Parliament rises on December 14 and returns in February 2023.
