Shotgun marriage as Arms Act change pushed through

ACT MP Nicole McKee is applauding the Government for pushing an amendment to the Arms Act through parliament under urgency.
The gun law reform advocate says firearms owners have been complaining about problems created through lengthy delays in processing applications for licenses and renewals.
She says thousands of owners will be able to get their firearms back, even if they have expired licenses.
“We’ve spent two years battling, wanting to get some sort of extensions, and the Government has actually come through for us it and I think that goes to show a changer of attitude on their part as well and I do applaud that and I am really thankful on behalf of those who are are affected that the Government has done something about it,” Ms McKee says.
