Indigenous push for world trade voice

The director of Māori partnerships at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise says Māori and other indigenous groups are pushing the World Trade Organisation to support indigenous business globally.
Dale Stephens says Maori took part in a recent WTO Forum session on international trade and indigenous peoples.
He says next year’s conference will look at indigenous business development globally, intellectual property rights and fishing rights.
“So these are key for Aotearoa New Zealand because for us it is around IP, it is around fisheries. It’s also around inclusivity and how do we bring our rangatahi through and how do we create education pathways to bring a more commercial growth opportunity for our rangatahi to move into these fields on that international stage,” Mr Stephens says.
He says there is a huge indigenous to indigenous trade opportunit.
