Youthtown celebrates 90 years with Family Fun Day where all kids are welcome
Youthtown turns 90 this year; a celebratory milestone as the organisations continues its work to help young people throughout Aotearoa be the best they can be. To celebrate Youthtown is having a Family Fun Day where all are welcome.
Taking place on Saturday 26th November at Youthtown, Hillcrest, North Shore (next to Eventfinda stadium) the event is free and the perfect excuse to gather the whanau together for a fun packed day. Kids will enjoy Bouncy Castles, Competitions and Giveaways, Face Painting, Food Trucks, Basketball, Giant Games and Art Activities.
MC for the day is actor and comedian Ronnie Taulafo. A long-time friend of Youthtown Ronnie worked for the organisation for many years and is also known for being one of the guys who fronted kid’s television show What Now. Also performing will be Youthtown ambassador kiwi singer songwriter Jacqui Bristow and two members of The Mini Band.
Renowned for its before, after school and holiday programmes, Youthtown today supports young people with a wide range of programmes from camps, sports teams, expeditions, physical training programmes, job skills and learner driving.
Youthtown works with over 2500 young people each year, partnering with local schools and community spaces across Aotearoa, with a focus on creating access in lower socio-economic communities where the need for support is greater.
“We’ve been empowering young people who are engaged in communities for 90 years which is a fantastic achievement and shows we’re staying relevant. We want to celebrate with our local community, the whanau and rangatahi who have supported us and shared in our programs.
“Our programs are designed with young people at the heart of them; we listen to them; we use dialogue that engages and empowers, and we tailor programs to the interests and strengths of young people,” says Youthtown Chief Executive Fay Amaral.
