Ruapehu iwi feels impact of ski lift closure

A Ruapehu iwi says the poor seasons which led to skifield operator Ruapehu Alpine Lifts going into voluntary administration is a climate change wake-up call for Aotearoa.
Te Totarahoe o Paerangi chair Whetu Moataane says local business and people are already feeling the economic effect.
“It doesn’t help with Covid and climate change so that’s sending us a strong message – wake up Aotearoa, climate change is here and this is the effect and this is what is happening to our people,” he says.
