Whakaata Māori putting small towns on show

The producers of Whakaata Māori game show Lucky Dip believe there’s television gold in small towns.
Hosts Luke Bird and Marcia Hopa take the show on the road this year, visiting 13 towns across Aotearoa.
Bird says they include places people often pass by or hurry through, like Tamarunui where he was filming an episode last week.
“It’s just basically to celebrate the community and put the smaller communities on the map, especially for tourism and to show peole there is so much more happening in the smaller towns than you think,” he says.
Details on how people can participate in the game show are on the Whakaata Māori Facebook page.
