Certificate the balm for Aotea exporter

Customs Minister Meka Whaitiri wants to see more Maori businesses take advantage of the Secure Exports Scheme.
Aotea-Great barrier-based skincare company Aotea Made has become the first small Maori business to get SES certification..
That gives assurance to foreign trade authorities that its has complied with any necessary procedures.
“So when they got to market internationally, if they have a certificate they are generally likely to go straight to market rather than being held up at ports or airports where their customs officers go through the whole checking to make sure that they are safe and they are secure, so that is the benefit to the business who gets one,” Ms Whaitiri says.
She has also had talks with Nelson’s Wakatu Incorporation and Ngati Hine in Northland about getting certified.
