M9 rounds up nine Māori thought leaders including Francis and Kaiora Tipene, Matua “Muts’ Parkinson, Oriini Kaipara, Moana Maniapoto, Rob Ruha, Pere Wihongi, Te Aorere Pewhairangi & Hemi Kelly, with Stacey Morrison acting as MC.
“The theme for our kaupapa is Whiua ki te ao! – Cast the Māori language to the world! and it looks and speaks to the way te reo Maori is the ultimate cultural expression of self,” Ms Hall says.
She says M7 may seem like more Ted Talks, but Maori being Maori, it will almost certainly include both laughter and sadness, music, and whanaungatanga.
