No more insulting Te Reo signage

Candidate says no more insulting Te Reo signage
Press release form the office of Mayoral candidate John Lehmann.
Auckland mayoral candidate John Lehmann says, he would ask that no more signs be written in two languages.
Lehmann says being part Māori himself finds it a total nonsense having both languages written on signs.
He asks how many Māori don’t speak English?
He said none.
He also asked how many speak made up fluent Māori?
He said less than 1%.
All kiwis speak English, and it’s just PC nonsense gone mad and its expensive.
It’s expensive, insulting tokenism and those behind this tokenism should be ashamed of themselves.
He said much of the translation is just made up on the spot, as Māori didn’t have words for many things like ‘’Bus stop, Airport, Hospital’’ or ‘’rail network’’ etc.
He said it council have people there under contract making words up that don’t exist in true Te Reo Māori, and just done to be seen as PC, it’s just plain out insulting.
He said he wouldn’t ask signage to be removed, just not replaced, or written in two languages.
As it is we are just doubling up on costs and the wording be bigger.
He said, Of course I would welcome public feedback on this.
But hear arguments for and against it seems a no brainer
