A $1.5 million fund to help musicians recover from Covid-19 restrictions should boost the number of touring acts over the next year.
Aotearoa Touring Programme manager Emily Crowther, says the past two and a half years have been extremely tough for artists.
“Many tours that even the touring programme has been supporting have been rescheduling three or four times. It’s a lot of work and we don’t want artists to give up. We need them, we need their music, audiences need them,” she says.
Many Māori acts are among those applying for up to 50 percent of touring costs.
