Māori business network training digital marketers

Facebook owner Meta is backing a programme run by the Māori business network Whariki to train rangatahi Māori for jobs in digital marketing.
Whariki chair Heta Hudson says Māori account for just 4 percent of tech employees in this country.
He says the two-month Te Matatahi programme should give about 30 rangatahi experience and tools to work in the field – as well as connections with Māori sector leaders and influencers.
“We’ve been working with Meta for the last two and a half years. We started our discussions around supporting small Māori businesses with their Booster Facebook programme so this is a logical progression to bring that stuff closer to our communities,” Mr Hudson says.
Applications for Te Matatahi close on August 12 for an August 29 start.
