State house build crosses 10,000 mark

Housing Minister Megan Woods says more than 10,000 permanent public homes have been added since Labour came into Government.
Some 8,240 of them are new builds and 3,802 are transitional homes.
The Government is also picking spending tens of millions of dollars on maintenance deferred under the previous National Government.
Dr Woods says under National left office with 1,500 fewer state homes than it began with, and it bled $576 million out of the public housing agency in dividends over the nine years.
She says the building of state housing and critical infrastructure has boosted regional economies and the construction sector.
