Manly snowflakes need Sonny talk
Māori Development Minister and rugby league fan Willie Jackson says Manley Sea Eagles players who have taken a dive on tomorrow’s game against the Roosters rather than wear a special Pride strip are getting poor advice from their pastors.
The club has apologised for springing the rainbow-themed jersey without consultation with the players, seven of who said they would not wear it because it conflicts with their cultural and religious beliefs.
Mr Jackson says the players haven’t had good advice on human rights and their responsibilities as professionals.
“I’d hope someone like Sonny Bill (Williams) would give some good advice. I mean he’s a Muslim but I think he’s got the right principles and I think someone like him and Khoder Nasser would give those young guys the right advice because a bit of a shock really and disappointing. They should be sat down and spoken to about rights because this is a rights argument,” he says.
